The Lunar New Year - What it means for you

With the recent passing of the Lunar New Year, we wanted to take a look at what it means to be in the year of the Water Tiger. With a name like that, we're destined to experience some powerful shifts, right?

So what even is the Lunar New Year, and what do the 12 animal designations even mean?

The Chinese calendar was introduced over 4000 years ago as an agricultural tool, where every new month would begin on the new moon, helping farmers decide when to plant and crop their fields.

Over time, the Gregorian calendar (common calendar) was adopted, but the Chinese calendar was still applied to mark East Asian holidays and auspicious dates. The widely known Lunar New Year is one of those holidays which remains connected to the Chinese Calendar.

The 12 zodiac animals associated represent 12 year cycles, and the important passage of time. Along with the signs, the Chinese calendar also associates one of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal & water) of Chinese astrology to the upcoming year. Let's have a look at these zodiac animals and what may come of 2022 for each of them!
