As the shortest day and longest night of the year approaches, the Winter Solstice marks a sacred turning point in the seasons and within ourselves.
Observed around June 21st in the Southern Hemisphere, the Solstice is a moment of deep stillness. A pause. A breath. Nature reminds us that darkness always gives way to light and in doing so, invites us to do the same within our own lives.

At Meraki, we hold a deep reverence for these threshold moments. The Winter Solstice isn't just a seasonal marker, it’s an energetic portal. A powerful opportunity to go inward, reconnect with self, and honour the cycles we so often ignore in the busyness of modern life.
So why do women feel especially called to gather on this day?
Because we remember.
We remember, somewhere deep in our bones, what it feels like to sit in circle. To reflect by candlelight. To rest in the knowing that this moment of darkness is not something to be feared, but honoured.
For centuries, women have come together in sacred ceremony at solstice, to grieve what has fallen away, to ignite the sparks of what wants to rise, and to simply be held by one another.
In a world that glorifies the constant doing, the Solstice is an invitation to rest, reflect, and receive.
The Solstice reminds us to:
✨ Slow down and listen.
✨ Honour our inner seasons.
✨ Light a flame of hope for what we’re calling in.
✨ Sit in sisterhood, knowing we’re not meant to do it all alone.
There is a quiet magic in this time of year when nature softens, the veil thins, and our intuition grows louder. When we gather, especially as women, we create a field of remembrance. A sacred space where healing, dreaming, and transformation can unfold.
This Winter Solstice, we invite you to take a moment for yourself.
Whether that means lighting a candle, journaling your intentions, or gathering with others know that you are aligning with a powerful force far older than any to-do list.
You are syncing with the wisdom of the earth. You are returning to your own rhythm. And you are so deeply held.
5 Winter Solstice Journal Prompts
Take some time on this sacred day to reflect and reconnect with your inner wisdom. Light a candle, make a tea, and let the words flow:
What am I ready to let go of from the past season that no longer serves me? (Habits, thoughts, relationships, energy leaks?)
Where in my life am I craving more softness, stillness, or space? (Is it time to rest, say no, or realign with my needs?)
What parts of me have I been hiding or silencing that are now ready to be seen?
What do I desire to call in or ignite as the light returns? (Think beyond goals feel into soul desires.)
What does my most nourished, grounded self look and feel like this winter? (Write a letter from her. Let her guide you.)
With warmth,
The Meraki Team xx
